Like the title says..I have a road test either friday or monday.. I have to call Fri morn to find out for sure. the guy that is supposed to take me out for the test is the Owner of the company. He said he wants to take me out for a couple hours. Asked if I had driven a Super 10 which I told him no that I had driven the meritior 10spd. Im kind of nervous being this is the first time. I dont know what to expect and was hoping someof you could give me a headsup

Fresh out of school he is not looking for perfection, he is going to send you with a trainer. What he is looking for: Dont over rev the enigine stay within operating range, stay a little under speed limit (be safe) safe following distance, watching mirrors and give the feeling you know whats around you (maybe even verbal at times "I'm going to let this young kid in the mustang get around me before I switch lanes" etc., Proper cornering both left and right, having the truck in the proper postion for the turn, and do not bump the curbs with the tandems!! Go a little wider then you need to, just to prevent this.....he wants to make sure you will not tear up his equipment. All very basic, show you understand being safe and respect his equipment.

No road test is ever graded on how fast you go, go slow, but not ridiculously so. ASK if he wants you to float or double clutch.

All I have ever done is double clutch so I hope he is ok with that.

One thing you need to get use to is getting into a truck that you have never driven before and then driving it as if you know what you're doing. You are use to the truck you had in school, but the truck you test in for this job will be different, but, don't let it freak you out.

ummmmmm..... he wants to "take you out for a couple hours?" I would also be curious as to what he has in mind. just sayin'......

I've never had a road test that was much more than a few times around the block with a little highway mixed in.

lol... Yea I know I need to get used to different trucks but Im sure I would feel better about it once I get more experience supposed to be assigned to a truck if hired.

chief lmao..... After I put that i knew someone would say something about it.....lol.. but anyway...... Im thinking that maybe he may want me to take an empty to one of the shippers and pick up a loaded one and bring it back to their terminal for another driver to take to its destination from there... Not really sure too much speculating on my part... but i was told if i was road tested then i basically had the job but im not holding my breath on that one either....

Make sure you do a good pretrip. Talk it up so he thinks you know what you're doing.
Ask questions about what you don't know. Show you're willing to learn.
Like someone said, let him know you'll look after the equipment.
He may want you to pick up a load, and drop it at his yard. See if you can follow simple directions.
    Good luck.
