they have a lifetime subscription? seriously?

 

Yes they do, you pay a one time fee and never get billed again... it's not cheap, around 500 dollars but you never pay one cent again.

 

I stand corrected and I should have know since I have it... lifetime subscription for XM is 400, if you want it with the best of sirius it's 500.

 

I bought my Sirius radio about six years ago. It cost me $100 plus $500 for the lifetime subscription. You can get radios for as cheap as $30 now. And the subscription will cost you about $15 a month. Either company has a best of the other on their services for an additional $2 a month.

Which company you go with depends on what kind of extra programming you want to listen to. Sirius has NFL, NBL, Nascar, and some NCAA. XM has MBL and NHL and some NCAA. Sirius also has two channels devoted to Howard Stern. The music channels on both are the same. Just like the news channels.

Walmart is the cheapest place to find a small radio. I suggest you just get a cheap one for now and check it out before you invest a lot of money in a nicer one.

Love that XM!!!! Music, news, baseball. Talk radio when the dispatcher hasn't raised my BP enough. I did invest in the $30 antenna at a truck (looks like a kid's magic wand) and it improved the reception over the magnetic car antenna that came with the unit. Only time I lose reception now is mountain passes or a very deep canyon (I-84 Oregon).

XM/Siruis have weather/traffic conditions for certain big cities. Check with them on whic had what. jtrnr1951 Sat radio is a lot better than being in the middle of nowhere with no am/fm radio signal. The only time I had a problem in getting a signal is on parts of I-84 and I-5 in Oregon.
