Just got a tip on a local dedicated run (NYC), called them up and got a TMC recruiter. *UGH* So where would I have to go for orientation? Do I have to go all the way out to Iowa?
And what are the odds that once I get into the company, the local position will be filled?

Odds are high. Companies use those tactics, and have for years.. They lure drivers in with ads for "local" jobs only to tell them after they're hired "oops, it's just been filled you'll have to go OTR."
-
That's how I got on with TMC. Answered ad in local paper for a local driving position and got hired. They held job for me cause had to put in two week notice with current company and do one week in DSM and two weeks with trainer. Another driver doing the same thing I do did the same thing.
I know there are companies out there that do that, but not sure if TMC is one of them.
You probly would have to go to DSM for orientation. Don't know if they do it anywhere else now. -
Thanks for the insight. What I know of them, it doesn't seem like they would do something that decieving, but teh way things have been going, you never know...

Stupid question if y'all don't mind. What is DSM?
-
There are no stupid questions. At least that's what I was always told. -
my trainer and his step brother both live in the same town as i do and when i first talked to them. The step brother...duwayne had answered a add in the paper for a local driver which turned out to be tmc. He had never driven a truck ijn his life.. They found him a truck driving school /tmc did not pay for it/ and he went to DSM for his two weeks and 5 weeks with his trainer... Then straight to his dedicated run which they held for him all this time. So it does happen
