Sysco or yrc

I'd go with YRC; no question about it. You can exercise when you want to and not be forced by the job requirements.
Years ago, I worked for YRC in a reefer division and it was a decent job.

 

YRC for Linehaul

 

Food service is horrible compared to line haul, for many reasons.
In food service, customers constantly trying to rip you off by saying you shorted them. Anything they can steal, makes their profits increase, thus better chance of a pay raise or promotion.

 

Food service isn’t the place to go to get into shape. Need to be on your way to in shape when you start. It can be very physically demanding. According to my off brand fit bit I average over seven miles a day at work. Most of the guys I see come to work to get into shape don’t make it. Good luck.

 

While I've been a freight hauler more than anything else, I'd be careful with YRC. I read they posted a record 1st and 2nd quarter loss, ( $37.1 million loss in the 2nd quarter alone) and had to get some injunction to prevent bankruptcy and to buy new equipment. I think we'll see in our lifetime, the end of "Big R",,,

 

Having done both foodservice and linehaul, normally I’d say linehaul hands down. But between those two companies I’d choose Sysco over YRC. Sysco will pay better and keep you active, and yes you will lose some weight just by doing the job (I was not in shape and didn’t work out or attempt to eat healthy and still lost 20-30lbs in a year). YRC doesn’t pay all that great and you won’t be doing your health any favors by working overnights sitting in a truck for 12 hours at a time.

Either job should be considered something to hold you over until you get on with a better linehaul company (or at least something less physical than Sysco). Long term I wouldn’t trust YRC to be around forever, and if you work in foodservice for long enough you’ll start getting hurt.

 

If you can handle the work, Sysco.

YRC has been going out of business since 2009.

 

Sysco. Eventually you can get to a linehaul spot there I’d imagine if you end up staying there a while.

YRC at this point now is only good until it gets its next government bailout. And who knows if that will happen when they need it.
