Excessive loading time!

    Is there any consequences for locations who spend a excessive amount of time to load you up, or do they basically have free will to take as long as they want?

    I started my day close to my pickup, got to my location around 7am, which was my appointment for a LIVE load.

    Been here for 3 hours backed into a dock waiting to be loaded, before they even started loading me, when asked how much longer itd be, they said around 1 1/2, to 2 hours. Its almost 1pm now. So half of my day has already been wasted at this one location, needless to say I'm not happy one bit, and am still waiting for them to finish up.

    Is there any repercussions or actions that can be taken for wasting a drivers time?

    The only recourse is done before hand. For the company, make contracts that benefit your company. For the employee, drive for a company that pays a real rate for detention. Until we as companies/drivers demand to be paid for all our wasted time, there is no reason for shippers / receivers to do so.

    Unfortunately I highly doubt Schneider is going to demand anything for its driver's time being wasted. They seem like most big companies who profit off the expense of their workers, and dont give much care to said workers.

    I've been here for over 5 hours, from the early morning when my appointment was, watching their workers play around and then jump to lunch.

    No, I have it as on duty, load/unload. I've seen mixed reviews about which is the correct way to do this, so leave myself on duty. Schneider has never explained to me which is the correct way, nor have they complained.

    Are you assisting in loading / unloading? If not (after paperwork and docking) it's off duty, or in my experience, mostly sleeper berth.
    Heck, an argument could be made that logging on duty while in the sleeper waiting on loading is log falsification.

    Welcome to the wonderful world of trucking. Unfortunately this is very common. I am assuming that you are an owner operator. Nothing you can do after the fact. As one poster mentioned, this needs to be addressed before you book the load. Make sure they pay detention, and find out how much they pay, how many hours you have to wait for free before detention kicks in. Also google the pick up location and read the reviews. And always leave a review whether good or bad, so you can help the next driver

    I am not assisting, Schneider has never told me otherwise, nor has regulatory mentioned it.
