I really don't see a difference. You can do this job or not. Look at some of the stupid crap supposedly mature drivers pull on a daily basis. Let the young folks who want to drive have a shot. They won't be any worse than the scum bag straddling two lanes at 45mph in the mixmaster in Des Moines this morning I came across.

Can't you currently drive intrastate at 18? If that is still true. Then a driver of 18 in CA can drive just as much as a 21 driving otr.
Bean Jr. Thanks this. -

Well you can get an intrastate CDL at 18. At 21 your automatically allowed to cross state lines with it. I don't see what the big whoop at crossing state lines at 18 are.
Take a look around at the absolutely clueless people that currently have a CDL and the #### they tear up. 3 years ain't really gonna make a difference.Bean Jr., gentleroger and D.Tibbitt Thank this. -
Nothing to worry about. The majority of 18 year olds have an attention span of a 30 second long post on facebook. I don’t think they would stick with it long enough for the first paycheck when they realize it is nothing like the truck driving simulator game and they have to use real life survival skills that arn’t taught anymore. Only a small amount of good ones will proove their worth and be a good contribution to the industry.
