Definitely, one of the best periods I've recorded in the last 4 years since I've been on my own. It resembles the Fall of 2017. The last 3 months have surely made up for the miserable months of April and May and if the current trend can be sustained, the year of 2020 may still turn out very good.
However, this will attract more newcomers or existing fleets will add more trucks,, which will dilute load to truck ratio eventually and also finały, unrelated to the capacity increase, the freight volume will subside too. I hope that we should be relatively content until the end of year. Oh well...most of us here in this thread have seen it all already.
Therefore, all those casual onlookers of this thread trying to get an idea of what owner operators make, contemplating pulling a trigger...Hold your horses, yet. We have to remember that this is an accelerated pendulum upswing which just as well may start going down in a rapid manner and sooner than expected. After all, it is not like we are experiencing an economy expansion backed up by GDP growth of 5+% but rather erratic and unpredictable outcome of politics (notably tariff war with China and new tax laws) of the last 2-3 years and the country shut down back in Spring.

I'll share a story my daughter told us the other day.
One of her husband's cousins (23 years old) heard about the fire in the Archie Creek area east of Glide, OR. Reports were that there were houses and businesses in a particular area where there was no fire suppression assistance at all.
The kid rounded up a bunch of his friends and they headed up there that first night, equipped with shovels only! They started digging trenches around properties and doing anything they possibly could to help these people. They saved MANY homes and buildings.
I heard that there are many volunteer groups who have headed in these various fires and haven't been heard from for days.
Compare that to these pukes who go out night after night in Portland and riot, burn, injure cops and destroy properties.lynchy, Brettj3876, Lostkeys and 8 others Thank this. -
All the best to Oregonians and their beautiful state. I'll pray for the rain... -
Flyover Jackson County
About 13 minutes in starts showing the utter devastation in parts of Phoenix and Talent, OR
Around the 23 minute mark you can see on the east side of I-5 how close the Petro truckstop came to getting it.Last edited: Sep 12, 2020

Since we had the wine country fires here in NorCal a couple years ago, and seeing what fires do to trailer parks first hand, you couldn't pay me enough to live anywhere near one of those places.
PPLC, D.Tibbitt and Dave_in_AZ Thank this. -
This local resident of Phoenix shot this footage. If you scroll to the 2 minute mark you'll see footage of stick built homes and other business structures fully engulfed in flames. Poor guy's dad lost his mechanic shop, which is where he also was employed.

Honestly these days a mobile home is just as good as a regular one. It's the old single wide "trailers" that are bad. But they do have the same problem any wood construction has with fire.
D.Tibbitt Thanks this. -
Last night wife prepared burritos with lean pork, fresh avocados, pico de gallo, sour cream, rice & a side of chili con carne.

PPLC, Dave_in_AZ, Dale thompson and 3 others Thank this.
