New AC bracket for Series 60

Had a hard time finding the pulley for the accessory, but find one at Fitzgerald's. Ice got the bracket already, just need a new alternator and I'm ready for the serpentine. My current setup must be out of alignment and I've been breaking bolts and keep having to tighten up on the tension on the belt. Im hoping the extra support will help alleviate the problems until it's time to replace front cover later down the road.

 

The new style set up breaks bolts also. My last Truck had the old design. Thought I was one with broken bolts, but no, the holes get wallowed out, Just like the old design. Some people drill the holes in the cover and put steel sleeves in. They used to have a sleeve kit, made just for the job. They don’t drill all the way through, just about 1/2” or 3-4” at either ends of the inner and outer covers. Others have drilled the holes out to 1/2” and use a 1/2” bolt, instead of 7/16”. Some say it’s caused by a bad balance damper on the crank. I recall almost new Trucks having the problem. Once they start breaking, they always break. The holes in the covers are larger than 7/16” to begin with, and the bracket rocks, it’s a bad design. Looking at the new bracket and rear cover I posted. It looks like one could be made, by drilling holes in the bracket, running the bolts down, and welding nuts to the top of the rear cover. I’ve got a good set of covers now, haven’t broke a bolt yet, 25k miles. I’m watching it, keeping the bolts tight.
