Shame on you...first thing you look at for pre trip...registration, inspection, and front lights/plugs.

As for you young man, :D maybe not torn a new one, but fix that sheet right. Duct tape might work as a chafing guard I guess. But a small piece of old air hose, even garden hose ziptied on would look better..

Wait are you talking about the truck to trailer supply line has a hole, or is just worn thin.? I'd get a new line from the WE shop..

But a perfect example non the less. You as a company hand write that up, the company should have to fix it. When the dot man goes to inspect your rig, which is probably a much lower rate than me by the way, if you took the time to write it up weeks ago, & daily & the company has ignored your report, the company should be torn a new one!!

People love to blame the driver, but I feel the driver did his job if they attempted to report the problem. You are not the mechanic, & it's not your rig to have to pay to fix stuff..

And if they don't fix it, people always say well don't drive it.. Easier said than done, as now the drivers hands are tied & has no way to earn money..

You left out one point....it is required to do a physical DVIR when any defect is found or known about. No defects...no DVIR required.

It doesn’t have a leak, it’s just the insulation and it’s the part where the airlines connect to the trailer, well closer to the tractor anyway; I completely forgot all about it until today, guess you can call me pretty ignorant; I gotta get some tarps and trip sheets from the nearest terminal so I’ll have them look at that while I’m there lol

Eh, out of sight out of mind..
I wouldn't have wasted my home time thinking much about a company tractor either..

To be honest, if it is covered up to where dot can't readily see the chafed area, & it isn't leaking it will probably go unnoticed..

Since you are going by a terminal, just point it out to someone. It might be fine, & I'm just overly cautious because those little csa dings can ruin a one horse company..
