My problem as I've got older I can't remember anything. I have several different colors of zip ties....every hose and fitting...every wire and terminal gets color matched with zips.

Standard industry practice in the repair biz. Just don't be like the one apprentice I knew of that was told to mark the lines on a hydraulic manifold and used all black zip ties

I can tell you this for sure. A red shop rag will go right thru a Series 60 gear train after a cam job. Run from Clyde Ohio to Chicago IL. Before it sucks up against oil pick up causing a low oil psi shut down.

1200 bucks, for the tow and dropped the pan to remove rag. Check couple of bearings and replace oil and gasket.

I did not do this. But was on my shift and I had to deal with it.

Count your rags and write it down.

I understand. I get it. I have a dry erase board in shop for important info.

If I remember to put it on the board...

Sad thing is, I KNEW this before. I've ALWAYS double-checked anything unassembled that I turned my back on before assembly, 'cept this time of course. Now magnetic lights left stuck on the underside of a car? Guilty. Multiple times.
