Back in the 220 diesel days before turbo’s the stand pipe stacks on all Cummins powered trucks were ceramic coated steel. Most when tuned right and pulling good would normally have a flame and burn or blue all the chrome stacks. Some States eventually started requiring spark arrestors toward the tips of the stacks. It was normal to see the red exhaust glow in those days.

Went past a truck yesterday that was burnt down to the frame. Don't know if it was yellow. Cops and firetrucks were still there.

What kind of truck was it?

Gasoline as a liquid won't burn either?

Correct. Gasoline has to be above its flash point in order to burn, just like any flammable liquid.
