What model year range is this White Freightliner?

I built about 15 of those. All makes.

That's circa 1975.

 

Round headlights are defining, 70’s. I drove a late ‘80’s Freightliner COE, only discernible exterior difference was square headlights IMO

 

Notice the fully chrome lubricator in the wheel well lol.

 

I’d send it back. It should have(by the looks of the dual exhaust) a 350 Detroit.

 

I have that same kit still in the box. It is based off of an early ‘70’s per the ladder and t-handle door latches. I would paint engine beige on that one.

 

Amt had a habit of printing NH250 on the box and the engine has a turbo molded for it in the kit. 250’s were non turbo. If that kit has a aftercooler and turbo it will be a 350. If no after cooler but turbo it will be a 335. 250’s were standard with single exhaust. 335’s and 350’s duals were optional.

Beige will still be the color regardless.

 

Not to hijack the thread, but I've got a question for the elders here.

Did Cummins use red as their color before beige?

I only ask because I remember an old IH truck they had at my first job, it had a red Cummins (they claimed it was 350hp). It was an S- series, maybe an S2600?

 

IHC painted All engines red that they used. It is not uncommon on an old truck of any make to find remnnants of red on a swap in repower or replacement used oil pans or other parts. Seemed like IHC was the biggest customer of Cummins in those days.
