NTB is out of Grand Rapids and they have a terminal in Lansing. They're a regional carrier with 5 days out and 2 home. They used to take drivers fresh out of driving school and put them with a trainer for several weeks but not sure if they still do that. The website is www.ntbtrk.com. Check it out if you wish.

Hey Blue,
I've had family that worked for Foreway out of Coopersville. They've had their struggles as of late, but were always descent to them. They're at Exit 16 off of I-96.GoBlue487 Thanks this. -
Thanks,
I will check them out. I heard they were a pretty good company, but I think they may not be hiring right now. I am running into that a lot lately. Either I have to have more experience or they are not hiring out or Michigan. I guess if it comes down to it I will have to go with one of my prehires just to get some time in even though I don't want to drive for them in fear it will just screw up my DAC. -
There are quite a few in the Grand Rapids area, according to my brother in law. His nephew works in that area. When my husband was looking in the Michigan area, a lot of them told him he needed a year or two of experience. He finally got back to Michigan, but that was a two year experience one. You have to be willing to keep calling to see about any openings. When he got out of school he applied at probably over 200 places and had to weed out the not so good ones. A lot of places want you to have experience in the snow and mountain driving if you go national. That makes it hard to get a job towards winter time. Some places make you drive with a trainer for 2 months, some not so long. Try and get a hazmat, that's always a plus. You can be a little more flexible then. It's tough starting out. Don't give up.

I would not worry about the DAC too much.
The system that the feds are making to replace safestat will probibly end up becoming much more used in the next few years.
Also the good smaller companys do not use the service anyway.
DAC is a for profit information company. There is no reg that says a company needs to use it. I have only worked for 1 company that actually used it. Now going to a second.GoBlue487 Thanks this.
