Just saw your posts about FCC and it looked so good, but I see nothing since 12/08. Everything still good there? Do u know what a new co. driver with 8 years exp. would sign at? I believe in starting as a company driver for a few months, and if all is well, then go O/O if it's in the cards. I'm ready for my last company man. Are they keeping u moving even in this horrible economy? thanks!

Some here have been hit a little by the economy. Guess it depends on where and how you run. I have had a decent year. Not great, but a long ways from being terrible. The only time I haven't been running was when I put the truck in the shop after labor day and had it not working most of the week and when I am home on the weekend. Miles/freight has been fairly study. I have an excellent "travel agent" who knows how to milk the system. I know that someone with 8 years verifiable and a good record started at near the top out of the gate when I started here. Just like most companies, they are not hurting to fill positions now. You would have to talk with Scott to see what he could do. They are hiring now. Mostly O/O but also a few company slots come open. Unless there is some major changes, I will hang around here. I got cornered the other day and they questioned if I was pulling my truck off. They were concerned. I told them I was in for the long haul unless they started going goofy. It is easy to develop a good relationship with the people in the offices.

Cowpie, that's real helpful thanks - it sounds like they're still worth pursuing, based on what you're saying. Actually I applied on Friday evening online - will give Scott a call this week. I do live in central FL though - hope that's not a problem. Actually I like your running area - I'm from the MW originally (St. Louis), and it's much easier running in that tight area I'm sure (no mountains, etc., right?). Maybe they could dh me to/from FL for hometime, and leave me in the MW during my running time, who knows? As far as your "travel agent" goes, there is nothing more important in this business for drivers than having one who "gets it", eh? You're fortunate to have one like her - don't let her get away! :)

If you don't mind my asking, what kind of miles do u get weekly on average, and still get home for the weekends? Thanks!

I have taken two weeks off in the last 12 months, and been home all but a few weekends (by my choice), home on every holiday, and I have turned an average of a little over 2800 miles a week. True, midwest is better terrain wise, but the midwest usually remains study compared to the rest of the country. I have been thru a few of these economic downturns and the midwest seems to weather it a little better. You don't get the extreme high and low freight movements like the rest of the country. And living dead in the middle of where this is happening, it makes it a lot better to stay in the groove and still be home regular. Hope Scott can help you out. He is an honest guy.

I am a driver for k&b now for the second time. I have nothing but good things to say about them. They treat me well, pay me well and also do what they say. Yeah sure they have their problems but, tell me, what company doesnt? Yes it is true they have a lot of drivers quit but, one thing you haven't read here yet is that about one of every 5 drivers being hired is a rehire. I quit 2 years ago after giving my notice. They routed me to the terminal and payed for my transport home. I think many of these drivers need to be honest more so than pissed and realize that they are only telling exagerated half truths here. I encourage you to tell the truth, or at least the whole story. And to the rest of you seeking employment.....seriously you think a driver complaint msg board or website like ripoff is the way to research? If that's your method of research then how do you ever expect to work again. Also any driver with a brain knows that you can't believe all you hear, especially from other drivers that have quit or been fired. It seems that you will get a biased negative opinion. Expand your search to include drivers that are happy with the company and the way they are treated. Then simply do your best to sort the fact from fiction and make an informed decision. That's all I have to say I guess. God bless.

I drove for K+B for one week in 2007. They had a high strung dispatcher who was very bossy, I told them to give me another dispatcher , they refused so i ran a trip back to dakota city. I left the rig on the yard. My paycheck was direct deposited, then immediately withdrawn by K+B. So they kept my first check. This is grand theft. Why is this not a felony when a company steals your paycheck? Anyhow i immediately started another job so I did not have time to sue.

Did you report it to the police? Your bank? That is the problem with direct deposit. When you signed up you agreed that they can withdraw money from your account. All they had to do is say you were overpaid. I would sue them if I were you.

Really? The company can just come in and take money from your account because you signed some form saying they could do this when you opt for direct deposit? Well that's news to me because I never signed any form like that and I guarantee I would never work for company that would make you sign something like that.

You might not remember it but you did. The form that is signed that you put your voided check with. Without a signature they can't deposit into your account. If you refuse to sign they most likely won't hire you since a lot of companies no longer issue paper checks.
