On average a Swift driver will do about 2100 miles a week ... that's going to be $840 a week.
That's not say you'll be average. You could do better. You could do worse.
I drove for them for 8 years. Best year I did just over 3000 per week. Worst year was just under 2850 per week. Most years I was between 2900 and 3000.
Also keep in mind, that with one day off per week, you will only work/get paid for about 45 weeks per year.hopeful eyes Thanks this. -

it's an investment in your future. Take the hit now for better opportunities or keep only looking at the next week and never get ahead in life.Blue Zombie Trucker and hopeful eyes Thank this. -

You're not a doctor or a lawyer. You're entry level. You're going to get lower pay while you prove yourself and get experience. Your second year and beyond is when your pay will go up.

An interesting thread, once again illustrating that so many people get into trucking with stars and dollar signs in their eyes.
Why do people drive trucks, you ask? Of course, each driver has their own reasons.
Personally, I enjoy not having a boss right on my shoulder. I ENJOY the challenges of the job, and there are many. I enjoy interacting with customers, that is, shippers and receivers. I enjoy seeing new places, and seeing old places in new weather conditions, and at all times of day.
if you think taking home 750 a week to start sucks... wait until you get a load of your first week solo. Then you'll REALLY think so, because honestly, the first 6 months to one year solo can be incredibly frustrating... but also incredibly rewarding.
Check your attitude, if you're serious about being a driver... attitude will make you, or it will break you, and in truck driving, this is more true than in most other career paths.Texas_hwy_287, TripleSix, D.Tibbitt and 5 others Thank this. -
3 grand per month take home pay when starting out in a new job is nothing to scoff at.
It only goes up from there.
And the miles at Swift really depend on how many miles the driver wants to run each week.
If you want the miles, and are able to run them reliably and safely, the miles will be there for you.
But that is the key...
Reliably and safely!TravR1, D.Tibbitt, firemedic2816 and 4 others Thank this.
