Acceptable Slack adjuster travel distance depends on type of brake chamber... One inch is within acceptable limits for most if not all brake chambers

30/30 short stroke chambers, 2” max. travel. 30/30 long stroke, 2 1/2”... 20 size chambers,(steer axle), 1 3/4”. Ideally, tighten them up, back off 1/2” turn, should be around 1.25”-1.375” travel.I came up with 1 1/2”. I set them a little tight, so I can check them again, after a Couple weeks, Make sure the automatic slacks are working. Chances are they’ll all end up at 1.25-1.50”. Any more than that, slack adjuster might be bad. That’s how I understand it anyways.

Apparently times have changed since 2008 when I drove. Good info to know should I ever return to the road. Thankyou for the correction

It’s always been the same. Used to back manuals off a little more on the steers. Anti lock, supposedly don’t have to, or aren’t supposed to. I got put OOS once, right after doing the brakes on my Tractor. I had backed them off a half turn, steers a full turn. Steers had 2” of travel. That’s when I learned about the different max travel lengths. Based on chamber size. From what I’ve been told, even Landstar protocol, is to only back off Trailer brakes 1/4 turn when adjusting them. I’ve been doing them that way for quite a while, just to be safe. A worn s cam bushing, or sloppy slack adjuster can cause increased travel. All they’re usually concerned with is travel, and shoe thicknesses. And chafed air lines.

We've had a breakthrough discovery this morning on cashiers begging for change.

"Do you want your six cents?"

Reply," Did you want your $1.09?"

"Would you like to round up your purchase and donate your change? ( To us mostly)"

Reply, " Would you like to round down?"

So I went back to get ice.

No attempt was made to con me out of my money.

However, I was not welcomed to Love's, nor was I thanked for my purchase.

I think I'm going to report this to corporate. Telling them how unwelcome I was made to feel, and probably never going to visit another Love's again.

You know, the last time they did that to me, I simply said, "No.".

But I got to thinking.........what if, since the say that they match dollar for dollar, if the write off the whole thing as charity? In other words, they get $100k from stupid truckers, and they match $100k, then donate the $200k, then they write off $200k on their taxes?
    I bet they do.
Just another participant in the Trucker F'n conga line where every position except the first changes.
