I am asking if most independent owner-ops make $100,000 in profit per year.

I answered you. I said 100k INCLUDING their own pay. So, pay yourself 70k per year and your business account went up 30k. Now pay taxes and it goes down to 15k in the account. Now replace equipment and fix break downs and your account is at zero if not dipping into your own pay.

It’s pretty standard to gross 200k and spend 100k per year not including paying yourself. The people that gross 250k and higher are the ones really getting ahead.
Markets fluctuate though. Some years are home runs while others are just hanging on.

Then the independent owner-op would just make 70k profit. I made that much as a company driver when I was a trainer.

    OK

Exactly. Remember though you asked for an average. That’s average.

Darn it! I thought most owner-ops would make six figures profit per year. That's kind of discouraging.

Wow, independent owners are those who are not contractually obligated to haul specific freight.

being leased to a company still makes you independent, because under the laws and regulations you as an owner, you have a choice to take work or not to take work.

the word lease is a legal term, it is used in the regulations that dictate what the two parties obligations are.

Honestly though, if you aspire to be average then your results will likely be average. Your goal should be to become a member of the esteemed Millionaires Club here on TTR. ;)

That’s where the big haulers hang.

I'm leased onto Landstar and can only afford Beefaroni to eat. And I even have to share that with the cat.

What are you, Midwest Trucker? Are you a company driver, or an owner-op affiliated to one company, or are you an independent owner-op, or are you a lease purchase driver?

I’m a helper at the local truck wash. Haha jk.

I own a fleet of trucks and operate independently.
