Your answer is better. More fuel flying under pressure and more heat everywhere. Monkeysplaining.LoSt_AgAiN, D.Tibbitt, LtlAnonymous and 4 others Thank this. -
Also at the big insurance auction sites have noticed an increase in burnt out cars in the lot. More than I can chalk up to increased volume of crashed cars.
On the cars and big trucks: I wonder how many are from poorly installed/manufactured high power DC things like inverters or amplifiers....LoSt_AgAiN, D.Tibbitt, LtlAnonymous and 5 others Thank this. -
From the article:
Earlier this year, the FMCSA announced its intent to launch a study of what is causing the rise in large truck-involved accidents and fatalities.
The Agency even recently hosted its first ever virtual safety summit where this was the focus of the day-long discussion.
The invited panelists, most of whom were mega carrier and trucking association executives, largely championed the implementation of more technologies such as advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) as the best way to curb crashes.

Obviously the training is much more advanced at megas now.
I mean to the point where any independent thought or concept of personal responsibility is completely eroded.
Example 1) Swift. Flat tire. Triangles out, sticking slightly out on the off ramp. 200 yards at the end of the ramp is........wait for it........a truckstop.
Example 2) Swift. Flat tire. Triangles out, inside the fog line leaning way over cause narrow e lane. 1 mile up the road is an interchange.
Example 3) Western Express. Flat tire. No triangles. Cause he's on an on ramp 100 yards from a Love's and has a mobile truck.

I stayed at the Love's just south of Roseburg OR last night. Woke up at 0230 and left by 0300. The SWIFT driver next to me fired up his truck about the same time, plopped down in the driver seat and drove off without doing a pre-trip. I noticed a shredded tandem tire on the outside as he nearly took off my mirror pulling out of his spot. I just laughed.
LoSt_AgAiN, thelushlarry, D.Tibbitt and 6 others Thank this.
