I passed a stopped school bus in 2008. I am a fishing boat captain in Alaska looking to get iinto trucking. I have no criminal record, only one moving violation(passing the school bus) I already have a TWIC, I have never failed any DOT Drug dest or physicals, speak 100% fluent Spanish. I just cant understand why no companies will give me a chance because of this. If anyone has any ideas please let me know
Does passing a stopped school bus keep a recent grad from being hired?

YOU PASSED A STOPPED SCHOOL BUS FULL OF CHILDREN.
Don't worry, Deepwater, here in America, as long as you can prove that YOU weren't at fault for passing that pesky school bus full of children, you can get a driving job!
And, this happens ALL the time!!

if you really needed to know it was on the other side of a street with a median and there were no children present this day thats why the judge didnt suspend the license just fined me 250 dollars. I have more time being watched by the feds than any of you guys, try almost 2,000 days in the Bering Sea without a single mishap and always at least 5 crew members lives in my hands at all times. I am sure none of you uneducated rednecks can speak two languages either.

Big truck, Mary Kay, Avon, lil ol' VW bug...it's ILLEGAL.
And, language has nothing to do with this....SIGNS are bi-lingual. As are emoticons...
And,please, let us know WHY you are/have been "watched by the feds", and WHICH "feds"?

I happen to be a prick who's college educated. I'm also nearly finished with my training to be a school bus driver. (I take the road test next Friday, written is already in the bag) If the stop sign is out, children are close by, you must stop.
I speak a bit of French and German; languages are more about memorization than intelligence, so languages don't impress me. I've encountered many people who were fluent in 4 or 5 languages, but were as dumb as stumps.
Perhaps you could drive a truck in Mexico, keeping your Spanish fluent. I understand their standards are not as stringent as those in the United States.
Being a competent boat captain doesn't necessarily equate to being a competent driver. Congrats on your boating safety record, maybe stick with that for a few more years, while working on cleaning up your driving record.
Don't be angry with the response, you asked if this violation would prevent you from getting a driving job. You were told. The answer is yes. It's not my problem or my fault if you don't like it.doubledragon5, road dust, simplyred1962 and 3 others Thank this. -
Are you making any money driving a boat? If so then why bother getting into trucking!. You asked a question, and you got an answer, whether you liked it or not. Were not pricks, we can just read signs, and a sign that says "STOP" means just that "STOP".. With the economy being the way it is right now, don't expect many offers for employment from anyone, as there are plenty of drivers who are out of work, looking for work, and have perfect driving records.. If your not happy with the response you get here then please click on the little "RED X" up in the right hand corner of your browser..
