Hi all. I got my CDL about 6 months back from a little community college back home. I quickly found out that I couldn't have picked a worse time to get into trucking, (or any other industry for that matter) No one would touch me with no experience, couldn't even drive a dump or cement truck. Lots of qualified drivers out of work, I understand that. I split the small town and took a friend up on an offer to stay in Dallas. I applied all over the place but Werner is the only one who would even look at me with no TT experience. I've read every post (some 1500 here) about Werner and it doesn't sound good but I don't see that I have much of a choice.

I am wondering if anyone can recommend a carrier with a base in the Dallas-Ft. Worth area that I might have overlooked that might take on a newby like me with no TT experience but a perfect background, no accidents, DUI, convictions, etc. Great work history, 40 yr old, perfectly healthy, etc.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You're going to get alot of mixed answers here, but what everyone should be telling you is that with no experience, you take what you can get, get your experience and move on. Werner can't possibly be THAT bad or no one would work there. My opinion is go with werner, learn the ropes, talk to drivers from other companies while out on the road and apply to them later once you are done with your year or 2. Good luck!

FFE is based in Lancaster, just south of Dallas. They are hiring newbies right now. How do I know? They just took me! Their next orientation is Oct 23rd.

read those 10 words that you said & I quoted above. In the current market, beggers can't be chooser's. Take what you can get. Get some experience (at least a year or better). Then you can move on.

Who knows. You may like Werner.

Werner wasn't to bad the 3 years I was there, made a little money, had a good time, did what was asked of me from dispatch.(Except NYC, and Canada) I would check in to FFE also, but like Blown02GT said, take what you can get right now. I have an overall hatred for ANY large company. If the boss dont have your Cell# programed in his cell.... Company is to big!!

I couldn't agree more! Anyone who calls me by truck# i try to avoid, but starting out, we have to take what we can get

    Dallas.
You have Werner, Stevens and swift off the top of my head.
I am sure there are many more though, it is a rather big hub.

    Can't be that bad ????

LMAO.... People still work in the gem mines in South America for less than $1 a day. It's not about "quality", it's about food.

Your other points are valid though. He will get experience at least.

Swift has a terminal across the street from FFE. I would go 1) FFE 2) Swift 3) Werner...
