Have you guys ( Mods ) ever thought of putting up whats called a black list? This would be something where drivers can post about any CB shop that has done poor work for them or riped them off. That way. Drivers who come to this section can see the shops that are to be avoided with out having to find out the hard way after wasting their money.
You could also do a white list for those shops that do really good work and take care of their customers.
What do you think?
Hell,i already have a list of shops that i have used who either did good work or riped me off!
MOD's. Look at this and see what you think.

Thats a good idea ... and over due .....
The ONLY problem is seting a standard .....
You know as I do that when making illegal mods to a radio since there is no legal grounds to sue a shop ..... No standards or license required to open or run a shop .
Maybe something as simple as another shop could not repair it after the first shop got through with it .....
I like your idea count me in ......
Bruce
I hold a FCC GROL ( The old 1st class radiotelephone my first one 1967 )
And work on radios for the local Jail ..... -
Good.
You know, everyone makes mistakes,we are only human. But if anyone intently does something to a radio that makes it sound poorly or poor work in general, lousy customer service and outrageous prices for work done then they need to be on a black list!
One of my Buds told me he had stopped out at a place in Cali and he a echo board installed. 75.00 screwing dollars for the board and nothing else and he said it only took about 15 minutes to install!!!!! I opened the radio up and looked at the connex board and and it's one of those cheap 15 dollar Astatic echo boards!
This is the kind of stuff i'm talking about. -
Nothing yet

We discussed this over on CBRadiotalk.com and the topic was locked. Turns out most feel a blacklist is a way for those to slander the name of someone who they felt did them dirty and therefore are bad. I.E. someone that didn't like Radioactive Radios
because their "super hack crapped" radio finally bit the dust after 2 months would put on there "Mike is a _______ and does awful work..."
But I do agree it would be nice because I'm one of those who if I know someone in the market for a CB will want to point them in the right direction....and not see them get burned by Bubba's Golden Screwdriver CB shop. -
Kinda hard to prove slander if it is truth! Whats a CB shop going to do. Go before a judge and say.......This mans negative comments posted on line about the quality of work i did on is radio is costing me business! The judge would be like.......you must have forgotten that your business is illegal in the first place!
.........and if slander was a concern then Angies list would be sued daily! BS. Cb shops may threaten you with some kind of legal action for being on a blacklist but there is not a #### thing they can do....
Be like a drug dealer suing you for paying him with fake 20 dollar bills! -
The problem is that it's all pretty subjective. I have had work done on my radio at a shop near my home and the guy has always done great work. Some guy asked me where my radio was set up because it sounds good, So I tell him where and he tells me the guy's a hack! Some other guy chimes in and say's he's great...So, Who's right?
It all depends on your personal experience with a shop.
I hear a lot of radios out here that sound like crap and the guy talking on it thinks it's the "Coolest radio on the road!" Overmodulated, Way too much echo, Sqealing and feed back from the talkback are just a few of the issues that come to mind that all come from poorly done mods or operator ignorance. MOST RADIO PROBLEMS ARE DIRECTLY RELATED TO OPERATOR IGNORANCE!!!
So...Who do you blame? The radio shop? Or the idiot that told them how he wanted it set up and wouldn't take no for an answer.Bayou_baby and FriedTater Thank this. -
there is a list google radio shop blacklist
-
Any good shop that cared about the quality of work that went out of his shop would tell that guy who wants a clipped and snipped radio to take his crap down to the next CB shop,i have more than once! But you also have to remember that what 95% of the truckers and CBers out there have learned ( over modulated and distorted ) came from CB shops! If for the last 10 years CB techs had been telling people not to clip anything or run a really low key then you would not have a million guys riding around talking on shatty sounding radios!
Before i saw the light i used to do all of the same type of stuff that you listed above and the only reason i did was because.....CB shops told me that was the way to have that......
"BIG RADIO"!!!! -
LOL........I did and one of the first links was to a radio shop CUSTOMER blacklist.......
