Ok i was told to come in for training on the 19th and im super excited, but, my bf is worried about me being a woman in a mans job, and that sexual harassment, or worse can happen. is this something i should be super worried about? or does the trucking industry have stick guidelines about this

I think she means Strict Guidelines. Just like any other work place in the U.S. we all get the "Sexual Harassment" talk. Most of us Men, have some decency and know it's not right to harass women. If there's a problem, bring it up, as the employer and/or trainer has an obligation to do something about it. I can't guarantee you wont get "eyed" or maybe hit on, but if it goes too far, just know by federal law, you're protected.

A kick to the go-nads always works too :biggrin_25525:

I am thinking its a typo and she probably means strict guidelines.

Effinia, I do not have an answer for you as I have not actually driven yet. I can say when I got my cdl last year, out of close to 30 students, I was one of 2 females. I had no problems what so ever. I have also worked in other male dominated fields, and I would definitely rather work with guys than females. I have heard of some women having bad experiences, but the same can be said of any workplace. Go in as a professional and you will be treated like one. Just use any safety precautions you would use in any other setting.

oh, OK. are you hot? if you're wanting to drive a truck, probably not. you probably don't have anything to worry about. if you're talking about the training period, most companies will team men with men and women with women. if they don't have any women drivers/trainers they may not even bother hiring you. but just because you get a woman driver there is no guarantee you won't be harassed, even if you look like 99.9999 % of female drivers, since most female drivers are lesbians.

    Depends on the individuals.

Some of the drivers I would not trust to not stab me. Others I would trust with no problem.

The industry is made up of various types of people anymore.
