If there is one thing I know for sure is that drivers for the most part are good people. Sure you have a few bad apples but so does any other job. Do your job and be strong and you will be fine. Dont let anyone push you around. Women are plentifull in trucking and do just fine when they are just one of the guys. Good luck!!!!!!!!

Its all in how you carry yourself. If you run around with your ##### hanging out, sticking your ### in the air like the cat. Yeah... you're going to have a problem.

If you act like you're all business, dress conservatively, and don't react to the jerks who will inevitably make some sexist remark. You will gain respect, and do fine. I know a couple of women truck drivers that can run circles around any super trucker.

Boyfriends are like that. Have you checked out the thread on Central? Its under the DAC reports. At least one woman posted her experience with Central on there.

Sure you're gonna be whistled at and ogled as long as you don't look like Rosey O'Donnel....and maybe sometimes even if you do.

What you should be worried about is being raped, and that can happen anywhere. Buy a gun and learn how to use it at a range.

seriously, sexual harassment is prohibited by the civil rights act of 1964. doesn't matter if you're driving a truck, shoveling french fries, or checking a guy for hernias ("turn your head and cough....")

you only need a concealed permit if you're going to conceal it. most companies prohibit carrying a firearm. they're not allowed at ports, and you need to know all the laws of every state, county, city, town, village, municipality and hamlet through which you'll be traveling. just forget about the gun and get a $10 can of pepper spray.

Chief is right on. I used to be a police officer. Different states have different laws regarding carrying. There is pepper spray and there are other self defensive tactics. Familiarize yourself with them. A really large mag light can be used as a weapon as can a tire tool. You can wrap your seat belt through the door handles to be more secure because some company truck keys have a one size fits all.
