    He drives for Trans Am
I have not been with Central for a year, but still lurk there thread anyway.
    Kind of a family thing.
I have been with a small company, but due to layoffs and no freight I have to go to a large company again.
So I will be starting with Heartland Monday. They are not as active in there area though. So I will still lurk here.

IMG00283.jpg Ok Hope is in her second cast now. She did pick out pretty cool colors however. This one for 2 weeks then we will go from there. So it looks like 1bad will keep on trucking for a bit longer.

I thought I'd share the week I'm having. It's no paper load to Philly but at times like this it's good to vent.

Sorry for the very long post.

I was sent to Dodge City to pick up a beef load that will be going into Mexico. My appointment time was Tuesday at 5:00 P.M. for a 3:00 A.M Wednesday departure. My actual arrival was about 10:00 P.M. on Monday. I checked in and bobtailed over to the Flying J to grab a late dinner and get some sleep. My sincere wish is that they would have the load ready early. I did was able to catch up on laundry while at the J and catnapped throughout the day in the hopes that they'd call to let me know the load was ready to go.

The call never came. I finally drove back over about midnight and checked in again with security. They told me the load wasn't ready and to check back at the 3:00 A.M. scheduled time. Back to the truck for another nap. Back to security at 3:00 and load is still not ready. They are waiting for "Export" to give it the okay. They don't come in til 6:00 A.M. Back for another nap. Back to security at 6:00. There's been a shift change. They check and load still not ready and "Export" doesn't come in until 9:00. This makes a delivery in Laredo at 6:00 A.M. Thursday impossible. I send a message into dispatch and let them know that they will either need to repower the load or reschedule the delivery time. Dispatch is not overly concerned and to let them know when the load is ready and my ETA to Laredo. Finally about 11:00 they call to let me know the load is ready. I go find the trailer and drive over their scale. The tandoms need to be all the way forward. I make the adjustment and my drives are still a little more then 100 pounds over. Security advises that their scale is not that accurate an suggest I scale across the street. Yup. about 100 pounds over on the drives. I call my DM and we decide that since it's so close and I'll be on US highways almost to Oklahoma City to just let the fuel burn off and run no more then 1/2 tank to stay legal.

I am supposed to drop the load at the Swift terminal in Laredo, which is where I am supposed to pick up my next load. Nice. I finally arrive at Swift about 5:00 P.M. Thursday well after the scheduled time of 6:00 A.M. My instructions are to have the trailer inspected, swap trailers and paperwork. Easy enough. Wrong.

Swift dispatch office says that they don't have the paperwork for the load I am supposed to pick up. They tell me that I will need to deliver the beef to the freight forwarder in Laredo in the morning. I tell them that I don't even know who the forwarder is since I was supposed to deliver to them. He prints out the info for the forwarder and gives it to me. He says they don't open until 8 or 9 in the morning. I decide to leave both trailers at Swift and head over to the Pilot to eat, sleep and shower. After several confusing Qualcomm messages back and forth with night dispatch I decide to call them and explain the situation. Night dispatch says that Swift is supposed to deliver the load to the forwarder and to go back to Swift in the morning and give them the papework for the load.

I head back to Swift in the morning and attempt to give them the paperwork. They still won't take it. They insist that I deliver it to the forwarder. Instead of getting into a pissing contest I go outside and call my DM. He says since it's only a few miles away to go ahead and deliver the load. OK. Fine.

I go hook up to the trailer and find that one of the tail lights is out on the trailer. Great. I send a message to OTR to let them know. They ask if I charge the light to the company can I replace it? Sure. No problem. About the time I get to the TA in Laredo the skies decide to open up. Man can it rain. I replace the light and head to the freight forwarder. When I get there he tells me where to drop the trailer. I give him the paperwork and drop the trailer where instructed. He opens the trailer to verify the load. He comes to me a few minutes later and tells me that the "package date" on the USDA export sticker on the product does not match the "package date" on the paperwork. He says I need to take the trailer to a produce place and have the USDA "fix" the problem. He gives me the address and I send a message to dispatch. When I get there I find a very small produce/meat company in a residential part of Laredo about 1/2 mile from the Mexican border. When I go in the guy at the counter says that the USDA guy usually shows up around noon. It's now 10:00. Needles to say... He finally shows up around 1:30 and I'm headed back to the Forwarder around 2:00. I guess the USDA guy did all the right stuff because the guy at the forwarder accepted the trailer.

Fantastic!!! Back to Swift. The papers for the load I am supposed to get are now there. Hmmmmmm! I wonder? This is a Kraft load going to Lancaster, TX. Since my 14 hour clock will expire before I get there I send a message letting themknow I'll be there in the morning. I then get a message that my new delivery time to Kraft is 6:00 A.M..... MONDAY!

This must be someone's idea of a cruel joke. Nope. Kraft is closed on weekends.

I get a message that I can drop the load in Irving... Yea!

    Followed by a message that I have a preset....Yea!!!

Load info says it's going to Tolleson, AZ. Finally! Home!!! Double Yea!

Pick up at Kraft in Lancaster, TX....

Yep you guessed it... on MONDAY!!!!!

    AAAAARRRRRGGGGGGHHHHH!!!!!!!
