Just remember that you may be hired at Roehl after training but you still have 3 EVO's to go through before you know if you will be hired totally. While you are an employee of Roehl you might say you are on a 90 day probabtion that consists of the 3 EVO's.

Nate there is nothing that has been unexpected except my paycheck not being there this week and this week of all weeks is not the time for that to happen. I don't like the fact that the 7/3, 7/4, 7/7 guys are treated as demi-gods. It seems every thing revolves around making sure these guys get what they want (miles and back home in time). I have inquired about going that route but I do not live close enough. I have not had to wait long for loads except for 1 time and that was this week (when I should have been at home already). This was the one and only time I needed to be at home at a specific date. This is because my wife's mother needs help (she is up there in years) and we are moving from Tn to Ohio. A month ago Roehl (3 different dispatchers including the dispatch manager) agreed I would stay out a month and in turn I would be home by the date we agreed upon. SO you know nothing about my situation and nothing you 'warned' me about is unexpected. I should note that Roehl now has admitted to dropping the ball big time and is making efforts to move past this (how this happens shall remain between myself and Roehl). Roehl has stated many times to my wife and I that they do value my professionalism and want me to stay with Roehl. So I guess the 'ball' is in my court to decide what I will do after some of my personal life madness settles down. I do have offers to drive else where but as we all know, all these companies are basically the same. IF I stay here at least I know up front the 'deficiencies' I'm dealing with. I am not totally sure of Eric's issues but I feel he is in the same boat as I. I am not speaking for him here (just a gut feel). We would like to stay here but need to decide how to work with Roehl in the future.

EVO1 successful. EVO2 first trainer did not trip plan...main priority was getting someplace to have "a few beers"...I asked to be taken off truck. EVO 2 second trainer marvelous trainer...learned so much from him...final testing in Marshfield my workbook was not even looked at...my driving after 8000 miles on the road that I personally drove with trainers was not "good enough' and my backing did not meet the "final testing criteria" of Roehl.

So after 8000 miles I drove for them and all the backing involved in that I did not meet the final testing criteria of Roehl and they said I had enough training and I got the bus ticket home. I wasted 5 days with the first EVO2 trainer and did not learn anything.
So...I am back to running my own business. My classmates are having the same hometime and truck quality problems that many of you are. Promises are made weeks in advance and then not kept.
I am trying to keep my head above water...I took a chance...and I will survice this economy somehow.
So how much does Roehl make off of all the trainees that are driving for their $60-65 a day?
Good luck to everyone and God bless...and the best trainer at Roehl is Jason he is passionate about his work.

Hey all I am new to this board. I work for Roehl. Hired on may 2009. Been driving 25 years 15 of was as an owner operator. Sold my truck and trailer in feb 2008. I will say that Roehl is like many companys since my dad started in 1958. but they are also better than many today. I have had issues with home time but I have always used the advise my father gave me. Stick to your guns. When I tell them when I need to be I home I tell them 2 days earlyer than I need. NEVER missed a day yet. Bonuses are reachable and last quarter was my first full quater and I qualified for one.
This job is not like any other in the fact that there is no normal work day and not even a regular sleep period. both can change from day to day. the main issue I have with Roehl is my DSR she tried to treat me like a driver with very little exp. I finally got her turned around and heading in the right direction.
I guess what I am trying to say is do you want do drive less and make more or drive more to make the same. I would have to drive almost 2850 miles to make the same money I make with Roehl at 2500 miles not including bonuses.
If I sound critical of others statments on here it is not intended. This is just what I do to make my road life a little bit better.

Have you paid that or are they seeking a collection agency after you?

    :biggrin_25513:

...I hope they start treating drivers better..eventually there will be a severe shortage of drivers once the economy picks up...
