Remembering which is "not bent or broken" and which is "not cracked or broken".

I did mine in an L model Ford. They, or rather at least THAT one, had the windshield washer control on the floor. I couldn't figure out how to make it work and lost points. :biggrin_25510:

A friend got back into driving after years away had to go to a school. They have you look in the mirror and when you see the landing gear appear you cut it back. Like Thyme said in #303

I found that the easiest way to memorize the pretrip is to break it down into steps. I’m sure they want you to do it in a specific order, so I won’t try to tell you exactly how I do it, but in general I started at one place and memorized all of the things that I needed to inspect right there. I’d drill that short list until I had it completely. Then I’d move to the next area and do the same thing. Memorizing several short lists is a whole lot easier than trying to memorize the whole thing in one try.

That's what seemed to work best for me.

That's what works best for everybody, but some guys are "smarter " so they can do it in one go. Then when, for whatever reason, they have to do things piecemeal they miss tons of stuff.

That is what I'm doing, too. Cuz you look at the same stuff on all the tires and brakes. Minus the hub seal vs the axle seal.

Just remember to do a pre trip and post trip when you go solo too. Most of the idiots you see in a truck stop now wake up, throw their chicken bones and poop bag out the window and haul ###. Never check anything. And you see them down the road with a blown tire.

But they'll certainly holler for a radio check if they have one.
