Some companies have cameras the record traffic and they record the driver at the same time. They like to say they are for driver couching. Most companies will give you a safety vest if they go to places the require them. Every truck is required to have triangles in case you breakdown. So they give those. First Aid kit, that one is on you if you want one. They give drivers load locks to secure the load in the trailer.

Not much good Wi-Fi on the road. You need a phone with data plan. Then you can make FaceTime calls from your phone or watch YouTube. Verizon usually has best coverage all over USA. I'm using Straight Talk and for $55 a month you get unlimited calls and 60GB data on the Verizon network. If you want Wi-Fi stand alone device Verizon has Myfi things that just give you WiFi but you need a data plan for them probably $80 a month or something.

People are trying to help you. They're going out of their way and taking their time to try to ease your way.
Just because it isn't exactly the kind of advice you're looking for doesn't make it bad.
If the advice you're being given doesn't suit you just ignore it...but don't insult the people who can and will help you.

Learn to drive a manual, it does little to no good for the industry to have another person behind the wheel without a clue of how to drive.

    That’s right.

The big OTR van fleets aren’t the only way into this job.

On top of that I think they put a restriction on your license these days testing on an automatic. Guess if you’re content with bouncing mega carrier to mega carrier for life that’s not an issue, but if you’re looking towards your future you won’t want that limitation.

I get that but it’s not that hard to read a question and simply answer it. Someone asks a question about what items they need than just answer it. Don’t reply with you should work here or go do this or that. 5 people initially responded with that. Literally nothing to do with what I posted. So how’s it insulting to ask people to answer my questions? If I wanted info on companies to work for I would have specifically asked that. Now if you want to know what insulting actually is I can show you. I thought truckers had a thick skin you #### Nancy.

Almost twenty years ago, I bought a homeless guy a 24oz beer. When I handed it to him, he complained about the brand.

That's what you're doing. You're coming here for help, and complaining about the help. If you ask a question here, you will get many many helpful responses, but some of them might not be direct answers to the question you asked. It's up to you to parse the replies, and glean the information you want. But if you're not even willing to do that, then why should anyone help you?

I think you should take a deep breath, and start over.

    MACK E-6 Thanks this.

Normally we'd ban you for a statement like that but maybe all you need is some time to think things over.
Take a couple of weeks off, examine your attitude, and if you're willing to get along you can come back.
    Your choice entirely.

    A 5x7 note pad/book.
    A few good pens.
A phone. With both a wall plug and cigarette type charger, good idea to have 2 charging cables.
Basic clothing. T-shirts, jeans (the usual items)
A decent mid-weight jacket this time of year.
A reasonable sized backpack. (Hold all the stuff)
    Some basic personal hygiene supplies.
A credit card or debit card with at least $500.00
Your going to need it to arrange transportation back home.
