We stopped at a T/A about 2am this morning and had the flexpipe cut, slid, and reclamped for now (-$50). Glad it split at the end and had some length to it. Enough to get it down the road, it'll need replaced when we're in a better position with more time. Volvo was smart about running the exhaust and there's no wiring, hoses or air lines near it.
Motor has a nasty miss at idle, we noticed that Sat aft when we woke up, but it smooths out under load. Decided to make our unload on Monday in DE, and then look for a Cummins shop to get a better idea of what's what. When it first started missing, it would clear up for a few minutes when dosed with fuel treatment at the pre-filter. Unfortunately it didn't last and I'm thinking plugged injector - any suggestions?
Stay safe and good to hear from you folks -
From my very limited knowledge, I'd suggest a clogged injector, but then if it comes and goes, makes me wonder.
Glad to see you guys are making out alright in your runs. Take care and safe travels! -
HwyPilot---- Good to hear from you. I am also glad to hear you are concerned about repairing and diagnosing problems with your truck. My best guess is it is a dirty or as you called it a plugged injector. It was probably caused by your truck sitting so long. Hopefully an easy fix.
I wish you well. -
Have you tried changing the fuel filter?I think a fuel injector wouldent care if your under load or not.is it pulling a code?is your fuel mileage going down? do you hear a knocking sound? you might just have a bad spark plug.
good luck and Happy motoring.
ps. most trucks have 2 fuel filters.
pps. ultra low sulfer fuel will clean out your tanks and clog your filters. -

rob the only reason i said anything about the anti gel is you said you had icecicals hanging off the truck but not adding that additive your asking for trouble and in cold weather like that i recomend you dont let your truck go below 1/2 tanks,as a precausion, hopeing it not a injector, cause between the dignostics and replacement it could be a $500 bill injectors arent cheap,so keep spare fuel filters and extra antigell on the truck ,hippo boy and hywayman just a pieace of advice take it or leave it,but it comes in handy along with a filter wrench out in the middle of no where and a hose to suck some fuel to prime the filters befor puttuing them on and a bottle of mouth wash to get the diesel taste out of your mouths,,,yuke happy sucking lol

hasn't gotten that cold for the fuel to gel up yet. utah hasn't hit below 40 yet. colorado got down to 25. but that shouldn't be cold enough, i wouldn't think. we've never had a problem with gel even in january and i don't think our fuel supplier uses anti gelling. but i'm not sure where our supplier actually gets there supply from.
our trucks do sit for the last week of the year and most of the first 3 months.
isn't there a primer on trucks? i know ours has them. no need for sucking. there's a handle you pull up and down to prime the fuel filters. sits right on top of the filters -
#### snowy, wanted them to look forward to sucking on some diesl lol
