I know some say even mouthwash is no-no. Am I at risk now with hand sanitizer? It is on the label 70% alcohol.

    From 2016... ;)

As to their use... proper use of mouthwash and alcohol based sanitizers are a non-issue (I also mentioned air brake antifreeze in the same thread). Now, if you are consuming them, the po-po is the least of your concerns.

Back pre-covid I would hit bars 3-4 times a week during my 10 hour break. A bit risky but I never had a problem. Obviously I didn't get super sloshed either. My OTR trainer that has 34 years experience would do the same.

I have had beers in the truck during my 34 hours at a truck stop. Legal? Absolutely not. But it's only illegal if you get caught ;)

My uncle keeps vodka in a water bottle, knocks out 2 shots in the sleeper every night before bed.

Obviously some common sense goes a long way.

I have never done this, but guys need to know the rules.

    392.5 example 3 or 5.

Off duty you are not under the control of FMCSA. You can transport personal alcohol in cab.

    NOT on Duty.

Now company policy is one thing.

Open container in most states is a big deal too.

But off duty/PC is not a concern of FMCSA.

You wanna drive your truck to the store on your 34 and buy a keg, have at it. Don't have anything open.

Stevens transport has a no drinking policy. You can only drink on home time. Away from the truck. I'm not a big drinker. At most 2 glasses of wine to unwind. My current favorite is dark horse. They have a 16 ounce can that is my 2 glasses. Doubt I will risk it personally.
