Can you kind of give me a run down of your experience with TMC since your done with training and ready to test out? I'd like to know about the length of training, pay, hometime, etc..Thanks

    well, a short run down...

2 weeks in des moine- 1st week class and load securement...long days.
2nd weeks most all driving inthe yard and road... even LONGER days.

next 5 weeks were on the road... i knew a guy in my town here thats a trainer so he request me and i had him for 4 weeks...ended up hauling boats all 4 weeks for teh boat haul division.... had to switch trainers for the last week to atleast do some flatbed training... and once again got a great trainer.....both guy were awesome and very cool and calm and let me do my thing and just gave me tips and pointers along the way.

Pay during training BLOWS! thats the worst part... after my cash advances onthe road..and after taxes i was getting about $240 a week and its definatly put me in a huge bind... I got home every weekend... usally around 4-7 in the afternoon.. when were were on boat haoul we were off again sunday morning between 9-11.. but that was because of leaving IL haveing to be in New york ot new hampsire monday morning...the last week we did leave out til 2 i the afternoon to texas.

overall i had a great time out on the road... at by the 3rd week i was definatly tired of being with a trainer. as of now im very pleased with my choice of TMC as ebign fresh and new to the trucking industry.

Im leaving here in about 4 hours to head to des moine.... to test tuesday morn...wish me luck!

Glad to hgear your doing well and have made it through training! SO how did the testing go? I do have a few questions about the training. How many miles were you getting while training avg? Did you sit alot or were you moving pretty steady? What parts of the counrty did they run you through? When running boats did u haul them out for delivery and then deadhead back , or run a flat back? Im assuming that yall had some special trailers for hauling the boats and dont figure there be a big maket on a backhaul with a boat trailer.

Once ya get set out in your own truck keep us posted as to how things are going and if your sitting or not I really enjoy hearing guyts stories about their life out on the road. Be safe out there.

AVG miles...right about 2000-3000 a week (boats were a long long haul 1500-1700 miles one way)

always moving only got stopped one night on flatbed waiting for permits on an oversizded load

Lots of east coast with boats picked up in northern minnesota going to new york-new hampshire- baltimore- PA-michigan.
Flatbed- all midwest sorta.... texas-missouri (sp) kansas- oklahoma- illinois-wisconsin...and all kinds of states here and there.

all the boat loads where deadhead backhauls althought my trainer was switched to mileage for the boats getting 42.5 cents per mile both ways. the trailers were all standard lowboys (rgn's i think) the boats were all preloaded and tied down just a simple drop and hook.. and away we went... drop off was simple and painless too.

Ill definatly keep ya'll posted im here in des moine now and gotta get on that dreaded prision bus tomorrow morn and 6am lol... so ill let everyone know as soon as i get back to my room.
