Agree also. One missing quantity here to me would be his 1-2 years experience.
Is he a "truck driver" that can blow and go legally, take care of the equipment issued him,
meet and greet customers, and tend to my business interests. His experience should be
in and on my loads and lanes. Qualify him, then make a mutually agreeable pay plan.
Do a little more than he expects and treat him right. Will become a right hand man.
It is exactly what made OP successful enough to need a hand.

    truckdriver31 and LtlAnonymous Thank this.

Well sure. You'd be a fool not to take care of an employee like that.

50% before fuel. owner keeps surcharge. paying 50% of net expense is a scam. if he drives for you. you pay by mile or 25% of the gross of the truck.

50% after fuel works out to be way more than 25% of the entire gross.

But then; Employees like that are not in the available market, because fool owners don't understand basic human nature. Put your hand on a dogs head and stroke backward with
his fur. Head will stay and back respond to your touch. Reverse the stroke and in a moment
or two head will move away and the back will quiver.

I like after fuel because is makes the driver more fuel conscious. Usually ppl don't give a #### about something they are not paying for. I rather pay a higher percentage after fuel than a lower percentage before fuel

More and more companies are switching to salary pay for truck drivers.
    For example, $1000 a week.
With salary pay, the driver can budget easily because he knows exactly how much he will make each week.
