Sorry to hear about the truck, BHW, at least he is able to get it back home and your insurance co. is treating you well. I always fear the same thing happening from deer collisions this time of year.

It rained last night and drizzled till noon here, the sun tried to peek through for a few minutes, then back to solid clouds. I doubt anything will happen in the field around here tomorrow, maybe all weekend, who knows? Definitely aren't going to be loading trucks out in the field for a while.

I've seen so many deer it ain't even funny. I seriously need a cattle guard.

On another note, Indiana is now missing a gate off one of their toll booths. :smt077

Yep, there is deer everywhere here too. A guard would be nice but I think they're kinda ugly. Course I might change my mind if a deer hits my truck.

The first MONTH we owned the truck, a deer took out the chrome bumper. Hubby straightened it up and ran with it. $1000 deductible.

Then, the hood, grill, lights, hinges thing at the fuel island, and of course, driver drove off.

Now this. I swear this truck has a target on it. :biggrin_25523:

I could tell you other stories about deer though. One wanted in hubbys local truck so bad that it jumped at the door, and tore off the stack, landed around the axles of the trailers. Man oh man did that stink. :biggrin_25526:

Finally a full day of sunshine. Maybe finally get more grain to haul. The cutting will probably start this weekend. I'm guessing the farmers will go like crazy since we have chance of rain Tuesday and Wednesday.

My experience with those is the deere hear them and stand in the middle of the road trying to figure out what it is they hear coming at them

a friend of mine that does body work says its hilarious how many deer strikes he fixes has them on the car lol

When I ran a tow truck nearly every vehicle I towed that had hit a deer had those things on it. :biggrin_2552:

The only thing that is going to protect your ride is a $3000 Bull Bumper and a prayer. Then you can run around like a wannabe Austrailian Road Truck. I think they are cool looking but I don't need the extra weight. But I seen a T600 hit a big elk on Flag one nite and that driver wishes he had one, it would have paid for it self. Also came up on a truck and horse collision in Colorado years ago and niether contestants one.

Ouch, sorry to hear that. I am assuming the driver that backed into your husband actually stopped, and owned up to this deal?

I have been considering getting one myself. There is a Volvo identical to mine that has a guard on it that looks really nice, its not HUGE and overbearing looking. Next time I see that guy I will have to get name and model info. That's actually the first one I have seen that was aesthetically pleasing to me. Most of them are way to big and gaudy for my tastes.
