Remember the newer trucks like Freightliner don't have a cross over line between the two tanks. They pull fuel from both tanks. I'm not sure if you only fill one tank it will equal out the fuel. I could be wrong but I thought most newer trucks pull from both tanks and mix them together above the fuel tank. I had Volvo and that how they did it. So they could get rid of the cross over line between the two tanks. In case you run something over no cross over fuel line to break. It's been long time since I tried filling just one tank

Back to the source .. I split both sides. I'm habit/routine driven. If I break my routine, invariably something bad happens.

I knocked over a qt of milk the other day because I made two small changes in my morning routine.

Welcome to my world. I am all about routine. I'm sure there is a healthy dose of OCD involved too. If I get distracted from my routine, I need to STOP, regroup and start from the beginning. Drop and Hook comes to mind. If I get distracted in the process, I go back to step one. I have never failed to lower/ raise landing gear, hookup or unhook air and pigtail, high hooked, etc.

My problem is I don't stop and regroup ... I plow forward with whatever thought that I had to change the routine and then crap happens.

I had a problem with a truck that stopped pulling fuel from my left tank. Plugged line. It returned fuel to the tank I noticed going down the road that my fuel gauge was getting fuller as I drove. When I stopped the left tank was full and the right tank way low. No crossover line on the truck but when I checked the tanks in the morning they were both equal. So somehow they will equalize even without the crossover.

It's only really a problem if you pull into A Little Sue and they only have one pump hose. Other than that, if you have two hoses why....why....why?

Who did I used to be?
    Just me, as always.

I have never changed my user name, or avatar for that matter.
    Just me.

That date of November 1, 2010 was when I first joined this site.
You can go back along my history here to see the gaps when I was banned.
    If you look closely.

My actual hiring to be a truck driver was just over one month from that date.
Nearly ten years now, and with the same company.

    Bean Jr. Thanks this.
