Currently, since we've slowed down a bit that number is more like 350-400, but during the busy season 500 is very possible.

    Agreed.

I've seen very few here who were able to be successful at that.

I'm not saying a determined guy can't. Just saying most do not.

You must be good at it because, until you just pointed it out, I forgot. Lol. You should definitely be proud... sorta like the marine slogan, the few, the proud, the successful lease purchase.

I was one of the successful. Did a L/P in 93 (1989 FLC), traded it for a 96 IHC9200 which I ordered in Dec 95. I had researched the company for over a year and knew a couple of the successful owner/ops that had been through the program. At that time the main advice I was given was to stay out of the company pocket (pay cash for equipment and service) as the service charges and markups will kill you.

Not taking anything away from Tidbit, but I'm sure doing the deal with the right company plays a huge part in being successful. Some companies seem to purposely make it so you can't finish the program... most because they want your truck so they can screw another hopeful driver.

I dont agree. Business is business. He seams the type to be successful or die trying.

That don't exist and is a small percentage. They don't count on him. They want the other guys.

99% of lease purchase is set up for you to fail.

For me, 99% it's just an all in agree upon rate listed as linehaul charge.. No accessories listed, fuel surcharge just blank..

Then if I need detention or tarp pay they magically forgot about, the broker generally just sends a revised rate con with the included monies as one line haul rate again before I pull off the yard..

That's just how it seems to work for me. I have no other experience in trucking other than working for myself, so I really do not know if this is common, or the correct way of doing business..

Cancelled load, or truck ordered not used is the same. New rate con just says TONU, then the amount agreed upon..
