My 2008 Cascadia keeps going through drive tires on the rearmost axle, outer right hand side.
This is what this tire looked like 2 weeks ago.
Now, it looks like this:
I have had 6 three axle alignments, changed all 4 rear leaf bushings, put all new German Sachs shocks on all 4 drives, the steer axle and even the cab mount shocks. The brake chamber is also new.
The last place used a laser and actually adjusted the front axle and it is holding up pretty good but what happens is that over a month or so, my truck pulls more and more to the right until I'm fighting with the steering wheel. I am beginning to think that the pull to the right and the tire wear are related. Could something inside the axle be causing this?
After 6 alignments and now 3 used drive tires, I am clearly not getting to the root cause.
The diffs are Rockwell 40145 with 900,000 miles and full locks. They are filled with synthetic oil and make no noise or have any leaks.
What is causing this?

Ok. I found out that this is called "heel toe" wear. It is normal?!
BTW, I also installed Centramatics wheel balancers a few months ago. -
On the heel and toe. That is normal wear for drive tire tread patterns. Rotate them by changing the direction they roll. So they well flatten out the high side. If you let them continue to roll the same direction even in a different position they will get much worse. They will vibrate and be noisy until they smooth out. The pull to the right could be caused by the mismatched treads on the right forward drive.

Do you pull the same trailer all the time? Does the steering fight you and still pull right when bobtail? If the tractor acts ok bobtail i’d Look into alignment on the whole unit together. Trailers need alignment too. Clean and replace grease on entire fifth wheel. The trailer could be pushing the rear of the tractor.

Do all the drives look like this? Highway mileage or city mileage? Retread or no retread [one i pick looks like a retread]? Are all tires the same make/model/size?

I drove a 2009 that was the same way after numerous sets of drives and alignments . I went to Quebec shop and mechanic asked why we didn’t put the L brackets back on after doing bushings . We had never changed bushings the factory forgot them . That allowed axle to move side to side which kept chewing up tires and made it squirrelly to drive sometimes.

@SmallPackage, I pull the same triaxle Reitnouer for about 3 months. It is a company trailer. Ususally, they find something wrong and give me another flat deck so I have to spend hours moving everything from my tool box to the new trailer. The pull to the right isn't noticeable when bobtailing. Only when the tires get hot or I'm loaded. That's one of the reasons I have had so many alignments.
@6cuda6, only the rearmost axle looks like this. All the other drives are fine. I had recaps but they kept blowing out so I run virgin rubber. I had the Hankooks regrooved so maybe that's why it looks like a recap. I run highway and always heavy.

Items 2 and 3 are called "wear pads" and my truck doesn't have them. Are these the L brackets you mean? -
Interesting....all 8 of my Hankooks on my new to me 08 Volvo look like yours...hence the reason i asked. Im wondering if the its just the tires themselves which are to soft or the tread is to deep and this is the result.Rideandrepair Thanks this. -
Curious what style of torque rods do you have? the bushing style or the bearing style?
