Been stuck night driving lately. Only thing I hate about night driving are the knuckleheads that drive drowsy or half asleep and drive extremely slow then speed up as you pass them or they drive really slow and weave making you not want to try and pass them.

I always said, night driving is sharing the road with half the drivers that are sleepy from driving all night, and the other half sleepy from just waking up to start their shift.

And often they are drunk. I called 911 the other night. Afraid to try and pass the driver. Weaving all over, drove for miles with left turn signal on, plus had a tail light out.

    JohnBoy Thanks this.

Just read on another thread that yet another company is giving their drivers a raise. Has anyone heard when our raise will go into effect? ***sarcasm***

My week off for hometime, added with a week of vacation, will be ending Monday morning. It’s been a very good 2 weeks off. I’ll be out for 2.5 weeks, take another week of hometime and add another week of vacation.

I know a lot of people have opinions about Abilene, the parent company and of course the know it all’s that don’t work here, but I must say, one of the perks is our vacation pay. Unlike what a lot of companies do with a flat amount for vacation, ours is based on a 52 week average. So, $1591 is much better then say $500 or $700.

Another interesting note, I’ll only work 2.5 weeks in the month of December, and still make, with my year end bonus, monthly bonus, vacation check and mileage pay, right at $6500. Hopefully, next summer I’ll take my vacation with my wife to the Greek Isles for 3 weeks like we were suppose to in August.

Unless you’re a local. Then vacation days are 8 hours. Period. And I can’t even get 12/26 and 1/2 off. One extra day off for 2 weeks straight to finish moving out stuff from my mothers house. Tell me, how much freight do you think is going to be moved locally the Saturday after Christmas or the Saturday after New Years? Trying to get this done while we don’t have our granddaughter, but nope. I know I’m a Debbie Downer lately, but it’s the inequality that really cheeses my grits.
