Pretty rough week for me, truck went down Monday evening with some kind of oil pressure sensor fault, made it in to Tallahassee where they checked it out Tuesday, they weren’t able to do the work so I drove it over to lake city and switched in to a spare, I hate spares, I’m a neat freak and it absolutely blows my mind to see how other people treat our equipment. Either way, made the best of it, ran a load up to atlanta and then went up to the mountains to get a load of marble, brought that back and preloaded for Monday. Luckily my truck was ready to be picked up this morning, the shop made a mess of it as well, which led me to string together enough expletives that 5 weeks worth of Sunday’s might not repair :). Here’s hoping the next few weeks of this year go smoothly, I’m ready to forget 2020, safe travels to those left reading the thread.

I know this sounds trivial and probably stupid, but that was one of the things on my 'for and against list' when I started thinking of buying my own truck years ago. Yeah, it sucks being down and unable to work, but thank God I never, ever have to worry about taking a spare truck!

@650cat425 doesn’t sound trivial at all, I’m thankful to continue working while my truck is down, but I feel the need to sleep in a blanket made of Lysol wipes in the process. Completely blows my mind how some of these guys live, this truck had literally just been turned in by another road driver, so there’s no denying those are the conditions he lives in while in the road.

Im gonna have a bit of reading to do to catch up on here it looks like. I used to pull 40 foot frameless otr. Got 4 yrs experience with it. My wife and i run otr team. If anyone has any ideas of dry bulk outfits that have enough long haul work on dumps that might keep a team busy please let me know. I'd love to get back into it. Has to be non hazmat for the next year.

You mentioned dirty dirt in the other thread. I used to haul that off of government epa clean-up sites and haul bed ash in to help dry up the spills. We did that at home in peoria area right off 74 there where the bass pro shop is. We developed that site as it used to be a settling pond for the old power plant there.

Oh ok. How long ago would that have been? I guess my company used to haul dirty dirt but got away from it a while back before I came along. I’m not really sure why.

I did some of that kind of work in 2011 to 2013. I worked on the bass pro development in 99 to 97. Also ya have to remember that all dirty dirt isn't hazmat. I worked on an old rail station property in Chicago in 97 to 99. That dirt stunk to high heaven of old kerosene. We weren't required to placard it. I was told at one of the epa clean-up sites that its the pcb's in the dirt that makes it require placards. I don't even remember what pcb stands for. But yea we'd haul ash in and dirty dirt out once they dried the spill up enough. Course ya had to bag your trailer. Those jobs always paid very well. Dust off the steel melt process always paid well. On 3 trips Muscatine to Rockwood Tennessee i used to gross 1500 to 1700 a week. Was a lotta miles involved but the owner saved big on fuel cuz of dead headin back every trip.

@Professor No-Name JK Williams might be an outfit to look at for team work, they’re a long haul end dump company, really nice equipment.
