+ Mostly personal choice, some stuff happened to me down range in the military, now never do anything dangerous without a 2nd person to spot me.
+I stay on the road for about 2-3 months at a time, another person in the truck, with maybe an hour a day of convo helps keep you from getting to lonely or bored.
+ Down around laredo, two guys tried to rob us, when I was loading stuff into the sleeper, team driver came around with my bat and scared em off
+ being a night driver, spot on late at night in those tighter locations where you need a 2nd set of eyes but no ones around, just ask your team guy, can totally save your ###, know it has mine.
+ Helps with issues when you have a 2nd person hearing all the stupid stuff your FM says
So overall not for the pay, you get a guy or gal you can jive with in the truck, makes everything sooooo much easier, hard part is finding someone like that, had several team drivers, only like one of them, another was a religious fanatic, and another turns out his heart liked to stop, but you find a like minded soul and being on the road for months is just easy. Plus being ex military either I Love you or hate you after about 20 minutes so it's easier for me picking a person to team with, military guys dont offend easy, and have no personal space, plus we take a hint to chill out most of the time. -
Carolina Cargo Inc. - 2310 Crowder Road - Rock Hill, South Carolina 29730
This company used to be a 2nd chance company but has changed their policies and now only hire experienced drivers.
They run hard from NC to Pacific Northwest and California turnarounds.
Pay is now on par with other team companies.
Website hasn't been updated, but may be worth a phone call. -
Thank you. Those are real good honest answers.

Never asked before, but what's the best way to link up with team guys outside of company jobs? Always had the company assign the drivers to me.

Call some recruiters at companies you are interested in and see if they have other drivers or prospects in your situation. Companies are AKWAYS looking for PRODUCTIVE teams. Give Danny Herman a call. I know they run the wheels off of their team trucks. In my opinion, a very solid company. I have been here since March and intend on finishing my career here. Just turned 60 in June. I want to work until 67. Great equipment. Team trucks get upgraded about every 2 years. Great people, great company culture. Do your job and you will rarely hear from anyone. Get a pre plan on the Qualcomm, accept it, deliver it. Lather, rinse, repeat.
