Let me tell you a story. I have heard this from two instructors and many students at a trucking school in the midwest. This was before the rules were changed that allow you to take the test in your home state for an out of state school. The students were so dang scared of the pre-trip and actual driving test this was where all their attention was, and they failed one of the three tests. The 50 questions General, Air Brakes, or the Combination Vehicles. Just make sure you pay attention to these tests. It has been years, but last I heard TTR had practice tests based on the actual questions used. I suggest a careful study of the material covered by the general knowledge first. Then continue to review and start the air brakes and then the combination vehicles. take the practice tests and see if you can find a good testing site that will give you feedback on the areas you need to go back and bone up on. The primary thing though is this is not nuclear physics. The tests are laid out in a rather straight forth way. People who fail them most of the time either don't have good study habits or lack comprehension skills. The latter scare the heck out of me!

I have tough time understanding truck parts like components of a steering, and suspension etc. It is boring and gets over my head. Will the test have questions on these mechanical parts, their names and functions?

You're overthinking this whole ordeal.austinmike and hopeful eyes Thank this. -
Practise test doesn't match with official manual. Look, manual says 50, practise test says 25.
