Your looking at a snapshot take a moment and look at your trailer expense over at least a 2 year timeframe. Let me know if you still think 6% is high.

That seems like a fair deal. Especially if a guy can secure a decent insurance rate and has a paid for trailer.

Does he basically reimburse you for liability, cargo, etc or he has his own completely? He also pay tolls, IFTA, ELD, collision, scales, random costs?

Once again, paying 12% for someone to handle the dispatching, paperwork, billing, etc, isn't too bad even if the operator is paying for all other costs. So long as the carrier is providing decent averages and volume.

He pays me only $650 for cargo and liability. Everything else is paid by him.
This is a very usual setup around here. Usually companies charge only 10% though, my rate is a little higher

The company I used to work for was charging the lease ops 10% of the rate. However, those guys are paying for EVERYTHING else, including a $1,000 a month trailer fee and $1,100 a month liability/cargo insurance.

The company processes the invoices, collections, disbursements, IFTA, road tax, etc. But it's coming out of their disbursements.

Believe me, the rates those guys are getting isn't that great either. So, they remain on the grinding wheel and make it up on volume.

    To each their own...

Man, over the years, I've seen so many different ways these companies structure their lease op programs, it's enough to make your head spin LOL

I'll also say that a lot of it is smoke & mirrors and if a person isn't careful, they can leave a lot on the table.

I heard a local car dealer commercial yesterday. The guy was saying that even if you were upside down in a current car loan up to $8,000, if he couldn't get you out of it and into a new car, he'd pay you $2,000! LOL

    Sucker born every minute ;-)
