    I've explored going original. I have a core I can rebuild.$ 2500 for core
Have option for used engine for 15k$. With 180 day warranty.
But I dream of owning a simple stupid 12.7 Detroit Frankenstein lonestar.

Just be aware that it will be a illegal truck in that case.

All depends where you're going to run it. A 12.7 would technically be illegal, but I've yet to have anyone ask me about an engine in a truck at a DOT inspection. I also stay way clear of the east coast and California. How many miles on the chassis?

I bought truck as non runner missing parts at auction and have pictures to prove to dot. I bought a salvage truck missing lots of parts including exhaust So I might have good argument as in why not repower with an easy motor. Milage unknown. And. NO California. Thanks for help

So, the transmission, clutch and rears are an unknown quantity? If you go with a 12.7 you are going to have an even bigger money pit. Radiator and related plumbing, Turbo and related air intake plumbing, motor mounts, electrical to the truck.. and a million other items. Personally, I'd part it out and cut my losses, or put an X-15 back in it. Have you ever done something like this before?

Is the donor truck same year and engine?
As stated, current truck does not have an X15
