This is my new favorite thread. Great conversation to have about these systems that give us all headaches

What do you think happens when you let off the throttle?

That's another reason I'm keeping the DOC. As I mentioned, its job is to cook any bits of unburned and incompletely-burned fuel and oil left over. Modern DOC's do a great job of it, with efficiencies of 90% of better. And they also help oxidise 20-40% of the soot (carbon) into CO2 as well, so by keeping the DOC I could see the risk of clogging the catalyst to be reduced significantly.

My 6.7L Cummins in my Ram is deleted, and I noticed a sharp increase in MPG immediately.

    Speed_Drums, Brettj3876 and D.Tibbitt Thank this.

But how much is sharp? Was NOx output also sharply increased?

    D.Tibbitt Thanks this.

Probably, but that's the least of my concerns. I was more interested in the roughly 20-30% MPG gain.

D.Tibbitt and Rubber duck kw Thank this.
