Will a wireless card from AT&T, Verizon, etc. get enough signal inside the sleeper to connect to the Internet??
I was wondering if all the metal surrounding you might interfere with the computer connection.
Thanks

i have a verizon aircard and it works good.

There is not enough metal in the trucks to affect the phone signal or computer air card signal if you are in a strong signal area.
You might have problems in an area with a weak signal. -
We have an AT&T card and it works fine in the truck. We actually get pretty good data coverage even where other people are fussing about no phone service.

What ever you do get UNLIMITED coverage! That piddling 5gb cap really isn't enough! Unless all you do is email and read the news then why waste the money! I use my computer for entertainment. It's my TV and for watching movies off of the internet. If you go to your providers website they will have a chart about how many KBs a movie emails and other things take like watching youtube. You'll be surprised what you cant do with a 5gb cap!

if you have a smart phone. there a software that cost 30 bucks. downloaded onto your laptop. then connect your phone and follow the direction. on your smart phone. if you have unlimited data usage. you can connect your phone to your laptop using a usb cable and have the phone be a modem. when the phone company see the data. all they see it data going to your phone. it is slow compare to cable, but you can keep the 60 bucks att charge a month for 5 gb. you can really burn 5 gb in heart beat if you are not careful.

I use to have a Sprint card and it worked great and it didnt matter where i was at in the truck
-
Yeah, I forgot to mention that I have Sprint and at the first of the year I was off duty due to a medical and I had them turn the card off and when I reconnected it the girl had it "capped" and when my wife saw the $720.00 bill I was almost a dead man! A quick call to customer service had the mistake taken care of! Just be SURE it's unlimited and a lot of the companies are going to capped services due to the heavy demand on broadband due to the cell phones and smart phones.
Also beware that using the "cell" itself as a modem can run up a bill also. Always check with your service and make absolutely certain that the aren't going to charge you for using the cell as a modem. Just remember that cell phones do get bumped and broadband cards don't and they are faster than the cell. -
yes, the laptop is slow, But I'm use to cable. When you use the phone as a modem. cell phone companies see it as data. Do not ever call the cell phone company if its ok. With the software. Phone companies will not see what you are doing. the only draw back. you can use it for long peoird of time. I use it for 2 hours a day and have not been charge for extra data usage. For me. using it for email or checking on website. the phone modem is perfect. I have the internet on my phone and now also on my laptop. I just pay for the cell phone and the internet is free on my laptop.
