I forgot to inform Paul Harvey. I'm gambling with a smaller outfit, working with a friends extra truck to see how I like the taste of moving towards o/o. He's been successful thus far with them, so before I stick my foot too far in and buy/finance my own setup going to be driving his 2nd truck that just had an inframe rebuild. His end game is to basically have a small fleet eventually, mine is just worry about myself.

Son and his kids came over 50 Saturday after they lifted the chain controls...said the morons were doing 25-30 at best...wet roads, wet spray,no ice....just a bunch of scared drivers being somewhere they shouldn't have been. To make things worse...the flat landers parking on the shoulder to take their kids for a play in the snow....to think we are under a "stay at home order" ....can't these people just follow the rules?

So with all the labor at hand youth in my reach....today we will be busting out the saws, torching off the burn pile, clearing out some manzanita and toyon, emptying the backside of the barn of the garbage wood to make room for the saw and tractor supplies....grand plans....lets see how much comes to fruition!

The fun part for me....I am the supervisor! I get to sit on my baby Deere and direct traffic, maintain the safety of the job at hand....and teach my grandson the safe and proper techniques of using a chainsaw. Hopefully he won't follow in his father's short cut techniques...we will see...he will be dropping his first full tree today. A smaller, white oak, maybe 14-16 DBH...the tricky part will be all the side weight so the drop line will be a little test so as not to tangle up in the nearby Empress tree or the new Pistache on the opposite side. Might have to put a guide line on it...not really sure yet.
