Just this statement alone speaks well of Dayton Freight.

God bless every American and their families! God bless the U.S.A.!

The absolute sheer driving force of our national economy - without truck drivers, our entire national economy would come to an absolute standstill - if not outright be dead.

Over the mountains, through the woods, into the valleys, coast to coast, from sea to shining sea - truck drivers can and do go anywhere and everywhere, every day, all year round.

You can make arguments all day for and against Dayton (I'm pretty positive where they're concerned), but there are no solid good arguments for YRC other than the insurance.

I’d go with DF without hesitation. Financially stable company, good clean equipment and a seemingly robust freight network which I would think leads to minimal if any slow downs during the winter.

    Varies by local union contract.
Some of them have better insurance than others

    1) In a nutshell, the positives far outweigh the negatives, as far as Dayton Freight is concerned.
    2) As far as YRC is concerned, there is no telling when the rug can or will be pulled out from under any employee working there.

I've been so #### busy this entire year that I have pretty much stopped checking the forum. I just happened to get curious tonight before work.

I don't really like to dog other companies, but I'll just say that when I read the title of this thread, coffee came out of my nose at an incredible velocity.

The pros at Dayton far outweigh the cons, and the cons at YRC far outweigh the pros. That's before you even compare them against each other. Even for a driver with a lot of seniority at YRC I think it would be a no-brainer to jump to Dayton if you get an opportunity.

Looking to make a switch in March when I have one year experience. I've tried otr and regional and dont really care for either lol

We work on a 60-hr/7-day clock and many drivers have been maxing out their hours recently because we've got more freight than we can handle, at least at my place. When we are properly staffed, a driver can reasonably expect 40-45 hours during slow times and 45-50+ during the busy season. Some drivers can also manage to get even more hours if they're willing to work the dock. I've seen some extremely motivated guys really clean up with that strategy.

Hey it's just good to see you are still alive brother haha, I am in the same boat, I took a hiatus from TR also, nothing intentional just busy, Saia is killing me dude, don't get me wrong, I feel blessed about the money, bennies and the job, but this run I am on and the amount of hours per day is really kicking my ###, hit my 14 or near it every day, and still get emails #### near every weekend for volunteer extra runs, yeah that ain't happening lol, anyway you were the first one I thought of when I saw this thread, you have always been straight up about Dayton.

LTL is a grind, man. Long days. Burnout is common. I dealt with it.
