I have two brand new 2021 KW’s that both have need new batteries before even putting them on the road. I’m talking one with 300 miles and one with 10’miles. Sad!
I have another truck with 70k miles on it that can’t even run the bunk heater fan for 10 hrs without triggering the low voltage disconnect.
What the hell!?
What batteries do you all use or recommend?

No warranty on them? I believe no one makes a great battery anymore.

I ordered my truck with agm batteries. They are Northstar brand. 360,000 miles and zero issues, but as with any agm battery they are not cheap.

I have 3 newer KWs 18,20 and 21 I think Paccar batteries are sub par as are the AC evaporator, heater core, and low water sensor.

I’m kinda in a difficult spot since I order trucks from a dealer far away and they drop ship them straight to the yard. Long story short I get no warranty then from the local KW dealer.
Oscar, thanks I’ll look into agm. I’d rather pay more up front and have long term

I always use 3, 900 or 1000 cca from Freightliner or Peterbilt. Usually Alliance or Deka. Nothing special, usually under $100 each.usually last 3 yrs. or more. Deka/ East Penn are supposedly built better as far as the plates are concerned. Maybe a good long trickle charge, before putting them in service would help. Shouldn’t have to do that. I’ve ran mine low plenty of times, letting the alternator charge them back up, with good results. Ask the Dealer, might be a combo of starting and low cycle available, or switch to dual purpose batteries, that can be drawn down, more often, and still recover. Cold cranking amps are for starting, reserve hour amps are for accessories. Need a good combination of both, for running inverter/ accessories. Years ago, Werner had Trucks with an isolated starter battery. If Drivers left fridge running, over the weekend, they still start up. I think it involves an extra selinoid or? Weight, cost, and avoiding road service calls. Maybe just a bad batch of batteries? That sucks. Brand new trucks.

I just buy $65 batteries from Volvo dealers and replace them every two years in Nov-Dec.
