Cadaver and Morgue hauling.

Sounds like a book scene from The Stand. Particularly where the army was using dump trucks to cart Captain Trips victims to the sea. Of course the book got kind of slow once they moved from the viral outbreak to the tired old, good vs. evil nonsense.

 

Call me macabre, but I've always been fascinated with that imagery. Something about the natural state of decay as an art. It started in the 4th grade when I first saw that "pile of bones" in a Mathew Brady civil war photo. Then came the Capuchin Catacombs of Palermo, Sicily.

Now I've been thumbing through the grizzly nature of WW1. Amazing how quickly decomp set in on unretrieved vics outside of the trenches when preservatives weren't in food during the 1910s. A body these days could be recognizable for weeks, maybe months. Back in WW1? Skeletonized in a matter of weeks.

 

Come now. With all the weirdness I see in this line of work, the macabre should be easy to take in. What are we? Uppity-Ups in The Hamptons?

 

I'm not 100% on that. But from what I remember from high school and CC level biology classes, this sort of thing was mentioned a few times by the instructor when it came to anatomy dissection time.
