Travel Centers of America is failing and will declare bankruptcy within five years.

Closing the restaurants at TA/Petro killed any reason to stop other then fuel and showers. They should have had take out food if possible. They could have tried something like, delivery to truck for food. They would have something loves or Pilot could not do. Instead of driver tipping we could have paid a delivery fee to have them bring food to truck. They should have used the restaurants and reserved parking or free parking to help drivers. Offer something no other truck stop has.

 

Well, lets just make them all Card Locks and do away with all the services. A building with a bunch of doors for self clean showers. Your fuel receipt tells you which door is yours. And another building with a long row of doors for the restrooms. You put a quarter in the slot to unlock the door. Another building with a row of vending machines to get your food or other such. Oh, and one microwave oven.

 

The problem with charging for bathrooms is charging for them in the first place. That’ll just make a bunch filthy drivers leave s***bags all over the place!

 

They already do that now.

But yeah probably be 2/3 times more.

 

Which touches on another issue-slobs who do a #2 on EVERYWHERE BUT IN THE TOILET BOWL ITSELF!!!
That pisses me off to no end-it’s downright disgusting and disgraceful. How TF can you be qualified to operate a 80,000 pound semi tractor trailer but can’t do something as simple as take a **** PROPERLY IN A TOILET?!?!?!

 

In regard to the thread title:

OK, I'm convinced. I notice that pay at the pump at many TA's is impossible because apparent hardware problems. Like the keypad always puts in additional numbers. Or the card swipe doesn't work. At TA in Montgomery today, was unable to purchase reefer fuel on 2 different lanes. Went inside and stood behind a lady driver trying to pay for fuel complaining she could not do so outside. The cashier then could not get the computer to allow us to pay inside. This was my 4th TA pump this month in about a month where unable to pay at the pump for one reason or another.

 

It’s been happening a lot at some of the Pilot Flying J stops as well. The old keypads aren’t working or are putting in a combination of numbers and letters (unwanted ,of course). And when it happens you have to go in and get them to input the fuel information manually,which is time consuming,especially if the cashier(s) is busy.

 

I parked last night at a pretty new independent truck stop in Joplin, Missouri called Big Apple... I believe they have like 15-20 reserved spots... When I left this morning each spot had a truck parked in it...

I would guess more independent stops will start adding reserved parking...

 

Our shop was short staffed for awhile so pms, tires, and simple stuff go to a TA because we're on account with them.

Got a Pm service at the TA in Rodgers Mn just north of Minneapolis.

####### kids forgot to put the filler cap back on.

By about Fergus Falls stopped at the rest areas there was oil allover the place.

Popped the hood no filler cap.

Wait a minute now didn't I just get a PM service litterally hours ago?
