Looks like Wyoming is going to be crap by the time I get there from Idaho Falls. Getting to 90 and even with the 20 and 212 cut across my Garmin says it's an extra 200 miles??
Is there a more direct eastbound route?

Jackson to Casper along 26 has always been a fair route for me. But if you try to cut across to I-90 early, there are some sharp turns and steep grades in the Bighorn National Forest area.

I'd probably take US-26 to I-25 and up to I-90, or I would just take I-15 to I-90. I'm not very familiar with taking 26 from Idaho Falls to Jackson, though, or if it's a truck route.

The part of 212 I referred to is off 90 east of Billings. Takes 75 miles off the route.
I came across 212 headed west before Christmas and had an air fitting decide to break for no apparent reason. So I sat on the side of the road just east of Lame Deer. There aren't notices on the east end that I saw.
That's all Reservation land. The man who helped me call for repair was extremely kind. And gorgeous lol. But he told me they really don't enjoy the trucks going thru. Wasn't a problem until GPS routes.
    So CAN I? legally probably. SHOULD I? I don't feel I should.

    Numb Thanks this.

Specific city? For example Pittsburgh makes a big difference to Erie.

From the East. Take Hwy 34 to Bell Fouche. Turn right in Bell Fouche. Just a few miles north. 212 is marked to take it west.
You could go to the Belle Fouche exit off I90. It takes a little longer.
212 saves 40 minutes off a 4 hour trip taking i90 from Montana to South Dakota.

212 does have a steep grade in the middle of the reservation. Signs there say no stopping. They don’t like any non natives much.

I just ran 212 ...nj to or load... good road , couple big grades nothing to crazy tho. Cuts off about an hour of time and dont have to stop at wyoming ports if u take 90 ... if u going to pa just hit 90 pickup 29 in sioux falls. Much easier route , just be careful with the wind

They have been recommending to stay on 90 due to some things that have been happening on 212.
Seems rocks, bottles and other things have been thrown at trucks lately. Also been a few reports of vehicles trying to run trucks off the road. Not sure if that warning is still active, need to check the web site.

    Qbf594 and D.Tibbitt Thank this.
