So for a few years i've wanted to get my cdl and drive I actually got my learners permit however right before covid I got into an accident, lady whos right lane ended merged into me and i tried to quickly avoid the accident, had to basically go into oncoming traffic lane (no traffic coming other way seemed safest way to avoid this accident) and do a sharp uturn quickly to avoid her.. she basically pushed me there.. however apparently the side of my car still hit the side of hers. I left the scene because I didn't think she actually hit me.. basically thought it was a near miss sighed and left... because i left insurance said its a "at fault" accident. I got summonsed for a "leaving scene of property damage" due to covid i've waited almost a year. my attorney says he will have the charges dismissed. but when nobody knows. does this disqualify me from a trucking career in the near future? it's been almost a year since the incident just no word on the actual case..... covid... i'm reading that dismissed charges still show up on record searches? how big of a deal is this? my criminal record is clean and mvr clean otherwise..
Do I have a chance to still get into trucking after accident?

Don't blame Covid for a lapse in judgement.
It seems you panicked and went into traffic instead of holding your lane and letting the merging person do their own responsibility of merging in correctly.
After all, she could not safely 'merge into' you, right? It is either speed up or slow down for her to make the merge in a safe manner.
I don't know how it will turn out, but next time just hold to your own lane.Flat Earth Trucker, Rideandrepair, Bean Jr. and 3 others Thank this. -

No.I really.doubt this will disqualify you from trucking. As long as you don't have a boatload of tickets, accidenta or DUI you should be good
OldeSkool, Rideandrepair and Swift007 Thank this. -
First thing you learn about trucking is you never hit them . They hit you !!! The side of her car hit you as you travelled in the proper lane.

Never say "I hit" anything.
That admits guilt, and guilt means it was preventable.
(That will not work with a pole, stop sign or any other firmly placed object.)
And always have a dash cam recording what is happening - if you are driving safely and legally.Rideandrepair and magoo68 Thank this. -

If I am at a red light and you are beside me and when the light turns green we both want to prevent the other from passing, what is that called?
Your reason for not stopping is lame also. This ticket will not stop you, but that crappy story might. Clean it up a bit.Rideandrepair, dunchues, SoulScream84 and 2 others Thank this. -
